Early morning on Easter Sunday, a few of us gathered at the beach to share scripture and listen to worship songs. The sun was out and the sea was glistening, it was glorious. I was reading aloud the chorus of the song “Glorious Day” by Casting Crowns. As I did two women were walking past. Just as I approached the last line of the chorus one of the women turned round to us, put her hand in the air and spoke the line for me, with a big grin. It was a beautiful moment.
We have this amazing freedom to have faith. A freedom to live out and practice our faith. Now more than ever it is important that we express our faith; boldly, bravely. That moment reminded me of this importance, you never know who is listening. When you express your faith you are reminded that you are never alone.
Let us pray;
Thank you Holy Lord for this truly glorious day. Each day is such a blessing. We thank you for the Easter weekend; for the food, family friendship, for the joy of swapping Easter eggs. We thank you for this time of coming together. For us though it is so much more than that. We thank you for the gift of faith, the gift of love, the gift of mercy. We thank you for the gift of salvation!
Each of us is on our own journey, our own path of faith. Remind us Lord to share our stories with one another, the highs and the lows of our faith journey so we may connect with each other.
Renew in us, Holy Spirit, a boldness and a bravery. May we never be scared to speak our truth, to express who we are in all our beauty. Encourage us daily to take advantage of the freedom we have to express our faith. We can speak scripture on the beach or sing songs of worship as we busy about our day. We can and we should. Your Word is not a little secret for us to keep hidden. Your Word saves lives. May we remember this power and may we start to use it more fully.
Lord Jesus today you are risen.
Because of that our old lives are dead, tossed aside for good. Today our new lives start in and through you. May our new lives be lives of joy, a joy that beams from us in every greeting, every action. We are a resurrection people and from this day forward we speak our truth.
Amen!!
