We live in uncertain and unsettling times. The last few months have been challenging and confusing and the need to regularly adapt will continue. Each week is a brand new set of rules about how we work, how we travel, how we shop and how we socialise. Never have we spent so much time worrying about the size of bubbles.
But despite the stormy sea of upset and anxiety, some things provide a constant. We can always carve out a moment in time by turning to that which is greater than all. Let us anchor ourselves now by going to God in prayer.
Holy Spirit, God Almighty, we give you thanks that you are a constant point to which we can return, the source of stillness and peace to which we can connect. When everything around us shifts and tumbles, your love remains as a strong chord that keeps us safe. When faced with a crisis or a difficult crossroads we know which ever way we go you will be with us.
There is no place where You are not, there is no situation without your healing presence. Whilst we may schedule you in via church or prayer services, you have no schedule, for you are eternal and always available to us. There is no time we can think of where you are too busy to answer even the smallest of prayers.
We may pray briefly now, but may each of us return to this prayer later today so that as a community our prayer to and with God flows unending.
Heavenly Parent for that one person who is struggling or suffering today, for that one who is upset, confused, anxious about the world around them; remind them all they have to do is stand still, breathe and feel your almighty grace and love.
For that one who is seeking and searching, trying to find answers and meaning, may they be reminded they are made in your image and all that they are is already enough.
Jesus we know you walk with us every step we take, but right now we pray that each of us truly feels your shadow or your hand holding ours. Let this tiny seed of faith become so truly real that it beams from us, that our faith in you radiates so that we become a lighthouse for others awash on these choppy waters.
Through your love and peace and mercy may we become a constant anchor for others.
Amen!
